Volunteers

Thanks to everyone who volunteered at SWATCH FIVB Junior World Championships, you were amazing!

Below are the roles performed by volunteers in Brighton. Anyone interested in getting inolved in should do so through England Volleyball - http://www.volleyballengland.org/Volunteers/index.php.

SWATCH FIVB Junior World Championships roles:

Court Manager: You will need to be an experienced volleyballer, who will work closely with, and learn new skills from the training and experience gained.

Court Runners: You will need to be 16 to 25 years of age and will assist the Court Manager in setting up the court and making sure the right equipment is there. This is a great hands-on experience and you'll have the best seat in the house!

Ball Retrievers: 14-21 years of age ball retrievers are essential to the smooth running of matches.  Their main responsibility is to collect balls at the end of play, feed the ball to the serving player and ensure that the balls are distributed to the correct ends of the court.

Accreditation/Information Desk: You will need to be an organised person to help answer questions and issue accreditation. This is a great chance to meet all the players, volunteers and referees. You'll need either local knowledge of Brighton or volleyball knowledge.

Sand Levellers: You will need to be 16 to 25 years of age and enjoy physical work. In timeouts, between sets and matches you role will be to level the playing court sand. Again you'll have a great seat for the action!

Scoreboard Operators: You will be in charge of operating the manual scoreboard that all the courts will have - all eyes will be on you as the matches get tight!

Ticket Sales: If you enjoy chatting to people and meeting punters this is the job for you. You must be organised and be happy collecting money.

Scorers: If you are a keen volleyball player this is a fantastic opportunity to become a trained scorer (particularly as we move towards 2012). We will train you prior to the event and there will certainly be further opportunities in the future.

Spray Patrol: NIVA SUN is looking to recruit the 'Spray Patrol' to help spread the safe sun tanning message. If you think you'd like to gain some event work experience and join the fun at Nivea Sun Yellowave then fill out the sign up form. You will be required from 11am - 2pm for as many days as you spare. The role involves sampling and handing out NIVEA SUN products around the venue.

We expect most volunteers who apply will be from Brighton and the South East region, but where ever you live please feel free to get in touch.

All volunteers will receive:
* Expenses
* Food
* Event Kit
* Swatch Watch
* Accommodation where required

You will need to be available from Tuesday 2nd September through to Sunday 7th September. Tuesday 2nd will be used as a training day with the competition commencing on Wednesday 3rd. For scorers Monday 1st September will also be required for training.

Play commences at 10 or 11am each day and you will be required to be onsite at least 1 hour prior to this (role depending).  Play is due to finish at 6:30pm each day.

If you require more information please email Gemma Nunnerley at g.nunnerley@volleyballengland.org

If you would like to get involved but cannot see a position on the list that suits you, email us anyway, specifying skills that you have, and if other positions become available we will keep you in mind.
